There is something magical about the quietest moments of winter. Soft light pouring through tall windows, delicate layers of white, a piano waiting in the corner, and snow drifting gently through the air.

A Winter Sonata was created to feel like stepping into a quiet winter morning in a grand European home, where soft light fills the room and Christmas feels almost dreamlike. Hosted in the Conservatory at The Gallery Rooms in downtown Mooresville, North Carolina, the scene will feature sheer curtains, flocked trees, a baby grand piano, timeless furnishings, and snow falling indoors.

Unlike a traditional Christmas backdrop, this experience is designed to feel immersive and beautifully lived in. Families can gather around the piano, cuddle together beneath the trees, move through the room, and even experience snow falling inside the studio, creating photographs that feel less like posing in front of a Christmas set and more like stepping into a winter story.

Best of all? Dogs are welcome! Because Christmas wouldn't be complete without every member of the family.

The experience will also feature falling indoor snow, creating the dreamy feeling of standing inside a winter landscape while remaining comfortably indoors.

After your session, you'll receive a proof gallery containing 100+ images to browse through and select your favorites. These images will be presented in an unedited proof format so that you can choose the photographs you love most before final editing takes place.
Once you've made your selections, your chosen images will be individually edited in Ash Nichole Photos' signature style. Families who fall in love with more than their two included images can purchase additional photographs or upgrade their collection.

Session pricing includes up to four immediate family members. Additional immediate family members may be added for $15 per person.
Please note that these mini sessions are designed for parents and their children only and are not intended for extended family or multi-generational photo shoots. Due to the limited timing of the setup, we cannot accommodate two families sharing a mini session.

Yes! One of the defining features of A Winter Sonata is faux falling snow inside the Conservatory.
The snow effect is being incorporated specifically for photography and will allow us to create movement and atmosphere throughout the room rather than adding snow digitally afterward.
Because the amount, placement, and appearance of falling snow naturally varies while it's in motion, every photograph will be a little different.
Because A Winter Sonata is being created for the first time in 2026, the images shown before completion of the set are design mockups intended to communicate the overall vision, styling, and atmosphere of the experience.
The architecture shown is based closely on the actual Conservatory at The Gallery Rooms, and every effort will be made to bring the final experience as closely as possible to the concept presented.
Individual décor pieces, tree placement, furnishings, and other small styling details may evolve as the room is completed.
Absolutely! Families who would like additional time may reserve two back-to-back mini sessions.
When booking consecutive mini sessions, the four-person limit is raised to six. Smaller groups generally allow us to create the greatest variety of the interactive, storytelling photographs this experience was designed around.
Want a full hour? You can also book one of my one-hour family sessions and select The Gallery Rooms as your preferred location during customization. A $50 studio location fee will be added when choosing The Gallery Rooms for your session.
A full session gives us significantly more time and flexibility to photograph your family throughout the space. This option is especially helpful for larger families, multiple groupings, young children who may need extra time, or anyone who would simply like a slower-paced experience with more variety.
Extended-family and multi-generational groups should book a full one-hour family session rather than a mini.
Yes! A Winter Sonata is pet-friendly because it takes place in The Conservatory, the pet-friendly room at The Gallery Rooms.
Please bring your pup on a secure leash and come prepared with treats or a favorite toy if those help get their attention. Because this is an indoor studio with styled décor, pets should remain supervised and under their owner's control throughout the session.
And don't worry if your pup isn't interested in looking directly at the camera the entire time. These sessions are designed around interaction and connection, and some of the sweetest photographs happen when pets are simply being themselves with their family.
Mini session bookings are non-refundable and non-transferable by default, but you can add a Mini Session Protection Plan for additional flexibility.
The Protection Plan allows you to reschedule your session once for qualifying circumstances such as illness or a family emergency, subject to the terms and availability outlined in the plan.
If you'd like this additional protection, simply select the Mini Session Protection Plan from the à la carte section during booking. It must be purchased at the time of booking and cannot be added afterward.

Rather than simply photographing in front of a backdrop, you'll be able to move and interact within the environment while the snow becomes part of the photographs.
